What we store
Your name and email
Used to create your account and send you important updates.
Your children's names and ages
Shared only with Villagers you message directly. Never displayed publicly.
Special needs and learning considerations
This is the most sensitive information we hold. It is never displayed publicly, never sold, and only visible to a Villager after you initiate a message with them.
ZIP code
Used to match you with local Villagers. Never shared with third parties.
Messages
Conversations between you and Villagers. Stored securely and never read by our team unless you report a safety issue.
Who can see what
Your children's details and special needs
Only Villagers you have actively messaged. If you haven't started a conversation, they cannot see this information.
Your name and profile photo
Visible to Villagers once you subscribe and message them.
Villager profiles
Public to all subscribers — names, bio, experience, and background check status.
Reviews you leave
Visible to other families on the Villager's profile. Your full name is shown.
How we protect it
Encryption in transit and at rest
All data is encrypted using TLS in transit. Your data at rest is encrypted by Supabase, which is SOC 2 Type II certified.
Row-level security
Our database uses row-level security policies — meaning even our application code can only access your data when you're signed in as you.
No third-party data sales
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.
Background check data
Checkr background check results are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You receive a copy of your results. Village Acres sees only a pass/fail status.
Deleting your data
Delete your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from your Account Settings page. This is immediate and irreversible — your profile, messages, and children's information are all removed.
Remove a child's information
Edit your Family Profile at any time to update or remove a child's special needs notes.
Request a data export
Email us at team@village-acres.com and we'll send you a copy of all data we hold about you within 5 business days.
